Medicaid Work Requirement Checker is an independent informational project with one job: translate the federal Medicaid community engagement requirement — 80 hours a month, arriving in 41 jurisdictions by January 2027 — into plain English people can act on.

How we work

• Every claim traces to the enacted statute (H.R. 1, Public Law 119-21) or official federal materials — the sources are linked on every state page.
• Every number on the site is computed from our state-by-state data spine, and every page shows its data snapshot date (2026-07-03).
• Where states control the details — reporting systems, exact dates, hardship processes — we say "verify with your state" instead of guessing.

What we are not

We are not affiliated with CMS, HealthCare.gov, or any state Medicaid agency, and nothing here is legal or benefits advice. Decisions about your coverage should be confirmed with your state agency or a licensed professional.

How the site is funded
